“Baby John” is an upcoming Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Kalees, produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, and A for Apple Productions. The film stars Varun Dhawan in the titular role of DCP Satya Verma, also known as “Baby John,” alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff. It is a remake of the 2016 Tamil film Theri directed by Atlee, which is loosely based on Chatriyan (1990) and Homefront (2013). The film was initially announced as VD18 in July 2023, marking Varun Dhawan’s 18th film as the lead actor. The official title, Baby John, was revealed in February 2024. Filming took place in Mumbai and Kerala from August 2023 to April 2024, with music composed by Thaman S, cinematography by Kiran Koushik, and editing by Ruben. The film is scheduled for release on 25 December 2024.
